High Trade Costs in Central Asia and the Caucasus Are Linked to Slow Cargo Processing at Borders - Analysis
According to a report by the Eurasian Development Bank published in October 2025, significant trade costs are observed at the borders of Central Asia and the Caucasus due to the slow processing of cargo. The study indicates that the average time required for freight transport to cross the border is 13.6 hours, and the cost of export documents reaches hundreds of dollars, which is significantly higher than in developed countries.
